Leica M10R Something Personal + a brief review

Something personal

My perspective on my relationships.

By describing my surroundings, I’m telling the story of the people around me, to whom I am deeply grateful.

And when I close my eyes and open them again, I rediscover the world as if I’d never seen it before, like a child. Wonder and beauty. Play and everyday life. This is me and my world. The thousand difficulties and misunderstandings fade away in the face of this. In fact, they are part of the beauty and its meaning. Let everything always amaze you, let it fill you with wonder. Rediscover things 10, 100, 1,000 times. Be amazed by the tiny details that make all the difference in the world. Let yourself be dazzled. Head in the clouds. And dare, lose yourself in the shadows. Play with your eyes closed. In a different way each time. The world is something personal. And then it will be wonder, always and in any case.

It plays on the fine line between technical, compositional, and focusing errors. Because human relationships aren’t perfect. But that’s precisely what makes them wonderful.

Leica M10R

Yes, that's it. It's definitely a Leica M.

Brought to its fullest potential.

Mechanically—which has always been its strong point—the adoption of the M10P’s shutter.

The adoption of a top-of-the-line image sensor.

Combine this with the best window on the world you could possibly want today—that viewfinder—and you’ll find yourself holding the most extraordinary tool for developing your creativity and photographic vision.

It’s still a Leica M, so it will demand a lot from you. Effort, hard work, understanding, and adaptability. But it pays off handsomely if you stick with it until the end.

And in this case, the M10R will allow you to take this wonderful dialogue between photographer and camera to a whole new level, where you can be much more daring, because it offers you greater room for correction.

Greater detail, higher resolution, sharper images, wider dynamic range, better colors, incredible focus accuracy... And even better performance at very high ISO settings, incredible highlight recovery, and good flexibility in shadow handling…

A camera that imposes as few filters as possible between the photographer and the world takes things a step further, opening up new creative possibilities that allow you to take your work to the next level. And, as in the case of my own work, it lets you walk the tightrope of "mistakes."  Play, and remember that when you play, you have to be serious. Enjoy the game. Effort included. In return, you’ll get so much. The unthinkable, the surprise, and the wonder will come—as with all the M’s—but on an even higher level.

In my experience with this camera, I’ve had the opportunity to develop two projects. One is an extremely personal project—the one you’ve just seen—and the other focuses on iron recycling. The concept of recycling is of fundamental importance for the sustainability of our ecosystem. The sensor’s high resolution allowed me to highlight the textures and surfaces of the materials. In my personal work, on the other hand, it allowed me to manage intentional overexposure in a perfectly calibrated way. And the richness of the dynamic range and detail allowed me, for example, to play with the rain in extremely harsh backlighting with great ease. I’ll leave you with a few crops from the previous photos so you can see for yourselves.

Finally, I’d add that focusing is even easier now, which suggests that some of the coatings on the rangefinder lenses may have been updated. This was something I was worried about, since 40 MP sensors require remarkable precision. But the mechanics seem to have been taken to a whole new level once again. No issues with camera shake, even though my hand isn’t exactly steady.

Note the raindrops, clearly visible against the extremely difficult backlighting.

The image quality is simply stunning. The beauty of human connections remains evident even with your eyes closed. But keep your eyes wide open, because this quality is something you have to see for yourself. And you absolutely have to try this camera to truly understand.

If I get the chance, I'll write a full review.

I’ll be adding more photos soon so you can see for yourselves just how amazing the Leica M10R is.

Note: Since the firmware is not final and official profiles are not yet available, it is not possible to definitively assess the image quality in question. Please keep this in mind.
